Kazuyo Sejima

A highly decorated architect, Sejima began her education as an architecture student at Japan Women’s University from which she graduated in 1981. After working for Toyo Ito for several years, she opened her own Tokyo-based studio in 1987. After many successful years she teamed up with Ryue Nishizawa and tofound SANAA (Sejima and Nishizawa and associates). Some of her major work includes the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Japan, the the Rolex Learning Center in Switzerland. During her Career she was awarded the Arnold Brunner Memorial Medal of the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2002, the Kuntspreis Berlin in 2007, and the Pritzker Prize in 2010, among other accolades. Sejima continues to make her mark across the globe.
